New Vice President-elect Jejomar Binay will be given a post in President-elect Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino’s Cabinet, but the assurance for a DILG position is not yet sure.
Earlier, Binay has expressed his desire in managing the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) because of his 20-year experience as city mayor of Makati.
In a press conference right after the inauguration at the Batasan Pambansa Complex, Aquino said he is also considering "several candidates" for the position of DILG secretary.
"I will be talking with the vice-president-elect and we will come to something mutually agreeable," Aquino told reporters.
Binay won over Manuel "Mar" Roxas II by a slim margin. Binay is with the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino party, while Aquino and Roxas belong to the Liberal Party.
Naga City Mayor Jesse Robredo’s name surfaced as one of those being considered for the DILG post.
Aquino said that he has already invited some people to be part of his official family, but refused to name them. He added that he has asked those who have accepted the offer to "take a leave" from their present organizations.
He and his team are still in the process of interviewing and hiring the potential Cabinet members.
"I would like to announce the appointments all at the same time, as much as possible present the entire Cabinet," Aquino said.
