As for Senate President Franklin Drilon, the social media’s appeal to lift the term limit of President Aquino is unlikely to happen.
Drilon said the President is against Charter change. He added that there is no more time for Charter change and that in doing so would "derail" Congress from its other plans.
"Ang panawagan na magkaroon ng bagong term ang Pangulo, to lift the term limits, sa pagkaalam ko, the President is averse to any constitutional change. That in this proposal, while I find the social media to be very active on this issue, this is a matter which will be addressed to a political leader, the president. And the President, we all know, is averse to any amendment to the Constitution," he said.
"So I don’t see this proposal on the social media getting very far. Ang pag-amyenda ng Saligang Batas, sa lahat ng mga naririnig ko sa Palasyo, ayaw naman ng Pangulo."
Earlier, Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas earlier proposed that Aquino should stay in Malacañang longer in order to continue his "tuwid na daan" governance.
Several people, loyal followers of the president expressed their sentiments through the "One More Term for PNoy" page on Facebook.
The Constitution states that the president is allowed for a one 6-year term only.
However, Vice President Jejomar Binay thinks that the proposal is "selfish" and politically divisive. He added Aquino is not the type of person who will hold on to power.
