Megastar Sharon Cuneta-Pangilinan expressed Thursday that she is hurt because of the lack of support for her husband, Sen. Francis Pangilinan, in his hope to become Senate President.
The actress said she felt as if she was being stabbed and slapped after her husband was rejected by other senators as a viable candidate for the Senate presidency.
She said what is more painful is that her own uncle, Sen. Vicente "Tito" Sotto, has said he will not support Pangilinan’s bid. It was a known fact that Cuneta earlier endorsed Sotto’s senatorial bid during the election.
"There’s a lot of drama going in the Senate na nasasaktan ako, like Sen. Tito na wala daw suporta kay Kiko. It’s just sad na mismong pamilya ko pa ang di makasuporta sa amin but I still respect him. I just want to make it clear I’m 150% behind my husband. As far as I’m concerned, he’s already the winner," she told entertainment reporters.
Cuneta was proud to say that Pangilinan was handpicked by President Benigno Aquino III as his choice for Senate President.
The Megastar added she did not campaign for her husband among the senators in spite of endorsing several of them during the election.
But she was thankful for Sen. Jinggoy Estrada for giving his support for Pangilinan.
Pangilinan and Sen. Manny Villar are both candidates for the position of Senate presidency. But, a group of 7 senators led by Sen. Edgardo Angara on Wednesday announced that they would vote to re-elect Juan Ponce Enrile to the same position.
