Senator Jinggoy Estrada is no longer surprised that the Ombudsman has tossed out his motion to end the filing of plunder cases against him, and his lawyer believes his client’s arrest will come this week or next week, except they get relief from the Supreme Court.
Estrada, who is beiing accused of misuse of public funds, pocketing P183 million in the pork barrel scam, said he will be preparing for his defense before the Sandiganbayan.
He added that he will not contest if a warrant of arrest is issued. Plunder is non-bailable if there is prima facie evidence against the accused.
Meanwhile, Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. said on his press conference Thursday that he also expected the Ombudsman’s decision.
"Tanggap ko at inaasahan ko naman talaga ang desisyong ito na babalewalain nila ang aming motion for reconsideration dahil wala naman talaga kaming mahihita at ni hindi man lamang nila binabasa ang aming apela," Revilla said.
Revilla believes that the Palace is behind all the PDAF scam to bring him down. Though Revilla supposes the Sandiganbayan to release a warrant of arrest against him and other senators, he added that he feels pacified that they will get a fair trial at the anti-graft court.
